Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Kristina received an Associates of Arts degree from Del Mar College in 1993. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&MCorpus Christi, with honors, in 1995. Kristina then attended the University of Texas School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor in December 1998, as a member of the class of 1999. Kristina is admitted to practice as a member of the Texas State Bar, U.S. District Court for the Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
